Spider Solitaire is probably the most entertaining version of solitaire you can play on the internet. It is not the average version of solitaire that has been around since forever on ever computer around the world, it is in fact a bit more complicated version of the online game.
Its popularity has exploded over the past few years as it became a standard feature in Windows. To play Spider solitaire is very easy, but to complete all of the levels is a lot more difficult. I think however that this version of solitaire is definitely the most challenging and that makes it a much better version to play.
There are basically three varieties of the online game you can play and it increases in difficulty depending on which Spider solitaire you select. The levels in Spider solitaire are as follows:
Easy: One Suite
Medium: Two Suites
Hard: Four Suites
If you are new to the game of Spider solitaire you should definitely start with just the one suite. It is a bit confusing at first but the principal is the same. What you need to try and do is to clear all of the columns. You do this by making stacks of cards that start with the K and then runs down to the A in the following order: K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and lastly A.
There are ways to clear the columns that are easier than others when playing Spider solitaire. The way to give you the best chance of clearing the columns is to start with the cards on the right hand side of the screen. The six columns on the right have one less card in them than the other columns and therefore slightly easier to clear.
You should also try every possible way to only use the cards that are stacked at the bottom to make up sequential groups. If there is absolutely no move left, then you can draw cards from the top. This will place one card on each column face up.
Whenever you can make up a whole stack that runs from the K down to the A it will be removed from the column and put at the top of the screen. This opens up new choices for you right away. So whenever you can do this, go for it. Don’t try to build up various stacks in an attempt to clear them at a later stage. You will just make things difficult for yourself if you play Spider solitaire in this way.
Once you have cleared a column in Spider solitaire, you make it possible for yourself to move another stack into that empty column and that makes it a lot easier. Once you have cleared the first stack of cards the whole game gets easier. It will continue to make things easier when you keep removing a following stack.
It takes a bit of getting used to and it is not the easiest game to play. The challenge of Spider solitaire is however a wonderful one and it will keep you hooked for countless hours. Before you move on to the more difficult options, make sure that you first master the level with just one suite. Finishing all three levels of Spider solitaire is quite difficult, but if you get it right it is extremely rewarding.
